wire brooch with stretched semi-circular bow
Alternative name   LT III derivative
Dating   90 to 180
Period   Middle Roman Period A (70/149) to Middle Roman Period B (150/269)

Scope Notes   (1) Brooch with spring of four coils and internal chord; (2) the round bow has an evenly stretched round arch (3) and a rhomboid or triangular cross-section; (4) the foot is placed at an angle to the bow.
Definitions   Boundaries and overlap with other types: this type is referred to as Almgren 16 regularly (Böhme 1972, 14, part of type 15; Riha 1979, 61, type 1.7), which is related but different since this brooch has no foot knob and Almgren 16 does.

Distribution: most often found in the Dutch river area; with smaller numbers in the South of the Netherlands, and the German Rhineland. Scarce in Belgium.

Figure: after Heeren & Van der Feijst 2017, 128, fig. 4.91.
