Australia 1982 60¢ Humpback Whale trial *Unissued Proof* MUH!: With solid blue-green background - rejected at last moment by PO AFTER being printed - and not the common issued stamp, with white sunlight streaked background, in a very different dark blue. ACSC 930 E(1) Fresh well centred MUH. SG 841a £250 = $A500. Ever popular, due to “Whale” theme, and this was a GENUINE unissued proof error, sold over the counter in a few sheets by the Post Office.
Indeed at the time, I received 2 of them on a $1.20 Certified Mail package from Charles Leski in the 1980s, who had no idea he was using unissued proofs for postage! I paid him $2 for the postage, and sold the cover for $750. It is believed unique and was on the cover of “Stamp News” at the time. Comes with the issued normal stamp = 2 stamps in this lot. A spectacular item, and a major Decimal Rarity piece for about $US200 or just $A295 (Stock 795GH)
